The Mersey Forest has supported the creation of Kirkdale Country Garden in urban Liverpool through the partnership of Jo Malone London and educational charity Rotunda. A grant of £35,000 was successfully secured from Biffa Award with match funding provided by perfumer Jo Malone London. Biffa Award is a multi-million pound fund that helps to build communities and transform lives through awarding grants to community and environmental projects across the UK.

Kirkdale Country Garden is one of only four gardens around the world supported by Jo Malone and joins those created in London, Edinburgh and New York. The garden was especially designed in the style of a traditional English Country Garden by BCA Landscape Architects and has four main areas.

Representatives from funding and partner organisations joined together at a celebration marking the garden's opening at the formal opening.

Carl Smethurst, Resource Development Officer, who supported Rotunda with the fund management said "This is a fantastic achievement, with partners coming together to provide a much needed area of calm greenery for the people of North Liverpool. Biffa Award's support has been vital in making BCA's designs a reality"
