Tree seminar to discuss role of urban trees

29 January 2015

A one-day seminar about the future of trees in our towns and cities is set to take place at Liverpool University tomorrow (30/01/15).

Organised by The Mersey Forest, the seminar will explore themes raised by the recent publication of Trees in the Hard Landscape: A Guide to Delivery by the Trees and Design Action Group, including the role that trees are playing in stimulating growth.

It will bring together a range of built environment and forestry professionals from across the region to examine how trees can cost-effectively address fundamental needs such as sustainable transport, health and wellbeing, and water management.

It will look back at the impact of past urban tree projects and will explore how similar projects will be resourced in an age of austerity.

Paul Nolan, Director of The Mersey Forest, said: "Trees deliver a range of benefits to residents in our towns and cities, and they are playing a vital role in driving growth in urban areas.

"With the launch of our strategic guide last year, The Mersey Forest is looking to the future, and working with partners to ensure that we can continue to deliver urban tree programmes in the areas they're needed most."
