Two trainees sought for Saltscape project

19 February 2015

The Saltscape Landscape Partnership is looking for two talented trainees to help develop the next phases of the project.

They need a Community Engagement Trainee and a Conservation Trainee, with applications closing on 9 March.

The Community Engagement Trainee will be based at Groundwork Cheshire and will gain hands on training in environmental organisation, event organisation and team leadership skills, as well as gaining an in-depth understanding of the operation and logistics of delivering a landscape partnership programme.

The ideal candidate needs a degree in conservation or heritage, plus experience of working in the community and delivering formal or informal education and events.

The Conservation Trainee will be based with Cheshire Wildlife Trust and will assist with the delivery of an exciting grassland and wetland restoration project along the River Weaver and the Weaver Navigation, working alongside the Mersey Forest to link areas of high biodiversity value and improve connectivity along the river corridor. The ideal candidate will possess strong botanical identification skills, plus a good understanding of practical conservation management and general ecological related issues.

Both posts will be for a fixed term of six months and will be funded by Heritage Lottery Fund.

Further information about the roles can be found on the Groundwork Cheshire and Cheshire Wildlife Trust websites.
