What does Green Streets do?
By helping local people act together to green their own street or local greenspace,the programme of predominantly street tree planting works to tackle a range of social,economic and environmental issues facing communities today.

update: So what happening with the project right now?
Having finished our ERDF Objective One and Forestry Commission funded projects...
planting; 50 street trees in the Wirral, 67 new street trees in Four Acres and 35 in Cement City St Helens,152 new trees in Sefton,120 trees across Knowsley and 60 trees in Ellesmere Port.
Through Forestry Commission's Setting The Scene For Growth Green Streets is now looking into further community and partner funded projects for the coming 5 years.
The project has been evaluated by The Forestry Commission who part funded the initial programme.
We part funded an exciting delivery with the Liverpool Biennial who contributed towards the Liverpool Capital of Culture Year 2008.The Spinning Trees or Joyful trees Arbores Laetae is part of the Made Up Biennial Art exhibition that are right in the community and is continuing throughout 2009 at the corner of Upper Parliament St and St Georges St;17 trees being planted..see their you tube link...

How does Untied Utilities get involved with Green Streets?
United Utilities have kindly supported the project across England's Northwest for some time now and their invaluable support helps both the Coordinator in his role in delivering projects that benefit communties and helps bring trees and involvement to the people of The Mersey Forest area.
To date the Mersey Forest project has planted over 500 extra heavy standard street tree on and adjacent to residential streets since May 2007.
