The Mersey Forest: 01925 816217

This country park within the city of Liverpool occupies 30 hectares, partly on the site of an Iron Age fort at Camphill. The centre of the park's sweeping meadows, with views over the River Mersey to the Welsh hills, contains the wildlife-rich Woolton Woods.

At the edge of the woodland is the walled flower garden with a recently restored cuckoo clock, awarded a Bali Landscape Award in 2002. A sunken garden and pool lie close to the site of the old Woolton Manor. The park's perimeter is gradually being enhanced with wild flowers and native trees planted by the local community.
