The Green Infrastructure Valuation Toolkit has been included in a range of tools to support businesses as part of the Natural Infrastructure for Business platform which was launched at the Global Landscapes Forum in Paris. An online platform was developed by World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), CH2M and others, and is designed to introduce business leaders to green infrastructure. This platform aims to raise business awareness, understanding and action towards increased investments in natural infrastructure solutions, by providing guidance and tools.
The Mersey Forest team has worked with partners since 2008 to develop a simple tool to use which helps put an economic value on investments. The toolkit provides information that can help to secure funding, justify interventions and choose between scenarios. It can also help to raise awareness about the benefits of green infrastructure and the value of those benefits to society. The toolkit is being made available as a prototype and free open source resource that can be downloaded from here.
