Support for tree planting on school grounds

08 July 2022

  • Hudson Primary School Pupils on planting day
  • A pupil at Hudson primary getting involved in the planting session
  • Pupils at Buglawton Primary School on planting day
The Mersey Forest is looking to support schools that are interested in planting trees or hedgerows in their grounds. We can offer woodland creation grants to cover up to 100% of costs, and as an expert adviser, delivery partner and funder all in one, we will make the process as simple possible for you.

This offer is open to all schools across Merseyside and Cheshire, but we would be particularly interested in schools that have low tree numbers or limited access to trees on their site, to help add further green spaces to your school and create a positive and beneficial outdoor learning space for your pupils to enjoy.

The benefits of outdoor learning have been shown to increase physical activity, reduce stress and anxiety and increase wellbeing in young people. As part of our woodland creation projects, our Community Forester will engage pupils in the initial planting of the trees and direct you to resources and follow up activities, that can be used with the planted trees, to support pupils learning and increase their awareness of the benefits of outdoor spaces.

The Mersey Forest is the area's Community Forest, bringing trees and people together to create healthy, inspiring resilient places for communities and nature to live, side by side.

Spaces are limited for this coming planting season, which runs from November through to March. Get in touch today to secure your place.

To follow up on this fully funded offer, please  contact us by emailing: mail@merseyforest.org.uk and a member of the team will be in touch.
