Spring e-newsletter - Summer events in The Mersey Forest

The Mersey Forest
Summer events in The Mersey Forest / May 2014 What is The Mersey Forest?
May is Walk in the Woods month

May is national Walk in the Woods month, and in Merseyside and North Cheshire there are over guided woodland walks for you to enjoy.

We've compiled an online guide to give a selection of the organised walks that will be taking place in local parks, woodlands and green spaces during May. With walks ranging from short strolls to longer rambles, there's sure to be a walk to suit you.

There are lots of well-documented health benefits associated with walking in woodlands - so what are you waiting for? Pick an adventure and get outside this May.

Come and help us celebrate
Party in the Woods

Join us for Party in the Woods – a woodland carnival celebrating the launch of The Mersey Forest Plan.

The Plan sets out a vision in which Merseyside and North Cheshire is one of the best places in the country to live. We couldn't have written this vital strategic document without your support, so we're saying a massive thank you to everyone who took part in its creation – particularly those who gave us feedback and comments.

Among the festivities will be willow-weaving, den-building, dancers, drumming and solar-powered music. The event is being held as part of Green Safari Day, a family fun day run by Warrington Borough Council and Risley Moss Action Group, so there's set to be lots of other fun activities and stalls to explore too.

The event will be held at Risley Moss Local Nature Reserve in Birchwood, Warrington, on Sunday 22 June between 12-4pm.

The Mersey Forest Plan has been part-funded by the EU Interreg IVB GIFT-T! (Green Infrastructure For Tomorrow - Together!) project.
