This ride takes you near to Crosby Coastal Park which stretches from Waterloo in the south to the estuary of the River Alt at Hightown in the north. The route also takes you inland enabling you to explore the nearby villages and countryside.

It begins by following the road paralleling the promenade in Blundellsands. The low grassy dunes and links here are an ideal habitat for skylarks and pipits, whilst the foreshore is good for lots of wading birds such as curlew, sanderling and redshank.

The pretty St Mary's Church in Little Crosby was much restored by William Blundell (the local landowner) in the 1840s. He even had the level of the roads lowered here to make the church look more impressive in the landscape!

Later on you join Back O' The Town Lane, which fringes the old haymeadows beside the River Alt. The river was canalised in the 1780s as part of vast reclamation works that created the Lancashire levels, famed for their brassicas and root-crops. There may well be lapwings, short eared owls, little owls; look out too for hares. There is a garden centre with a café as you exit the village of Ince Blundell.
