Dumbrees Wood is a small community woodland situated off Mill Lane, Knowsley Village. Although only formally named on maps dating back to 1893, maps of 1850 show a belt of established woodland running the length of Mill Lane on its southern boundary following the course of the brook that still runs through the site today. The present day Dumbrees Wood is a remnant of this mature woodland belt, the rest having been taken into private ownership by adjacent residential properties.

A surfaced footpath takes you from one end of the woodland to the other, crossing the brook at its eastern end. The site lies south of Mill Lane Recreation Ground on the other side of the road. Dumbrees Wood is one of many community woodlands to explore in Knowsley Village and an extensive walk can be devised to explore these numerous sites.
