Frodsham Ancient Woodlands Forest Park is an area of attractive, undulating agricultural land, with high sandstone outcrops to the west and areas of primarily oak and birch ancient woodland particularly along the sandstone ridge and the Weaver Valley. The River Weaver flows through the eastern part of the area. Outstanding views can be experienced from the tops of the hills behind Helsby and Frodsham, and several long distance trails pass through the area: The Sandstone Trail, the Delamere Way, the Eddisbury Way, the Longster Trail and the recently created North Cheshire Way. As well as the ancient woodland on the sandstone ridge, and a few patches on Helsby Hill, there is another large piece open to the public just off the A533 near Dutton, called Longacre.
