Established on former farmland with tranquil walks through the edges of ancient peatland, open meadows and newly created woodland. Windy Bank Wood is a flat, open site with established native woodland and pockets of new planting to increase the woodland area, along with tributaries of the Glazebrook River running through. This site is popular with dog walkers, cyclists, and families, with picnic benches at intervals across the site. In the spring time the site is covered in wildflowers including oxeye daisies, red campion and lady's smock and looks a picture. Windy Bank sits amongst farmland, and so along with the woodland wildlife such as brown hare, people can also see farm life including cows, sheep and donkeys. Windy Bank Wood neighbours Bedford Moss - a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and nearby is Pennington Flash Country Park. Windy Bank Wood also links into the Glazebrook Timberland Trail, an 18 kilometre walkway which runs from Pennington to Cadishead.

Trees at Windy Bank can be dedicated to loved ones through the Dedicate a Tree scheme. Click here for more information.
